Where do your tours start from?
Our official start point for all our tours is Windermere Information, located close to the Windermere Rail & Bus Stations. We can offer a complementary collection service from Hotels and Guest Houses located in Ambleside, Bowness-on-Windermere, Grasmere & Windermere. We also offer a transfer service from Grange-Over-Sands, Kendal and Keswick, please note there may be a charge from these towns.
Where can I park my car?
For tours starting in Windermere, our start point is ideally located 1 minute walk from Windermere Rail Station. Car parking can be found at the station for £4.00 per day, please use LA23 1AH on your Sat Nav. Alternative car parking can be found in Windermere at Broad Street, LA23 2AB. This is a 5 minute walk from our Windermere start point location.
For tours starting from Ambleside, we collect from the main bus stops at Kelsick Road in the centre of the village, LA22 0BZ. The nearest long stay car parking is available at Rydal Road, please use LA22 9AY on your Sat Nav. The is a 5-10 minute walk from our Ambleside start point location.
For tours starting from Keswick, we collect from Keswick Central car park. Please use CA12 5DP on your Sat Nav.
For tours starting from Grange-over-Sands, we collect from Grange-over-Sands train station. Car parking can be found at the station for £4.00 per day, please use LA11 6EH on your Sat Nav.

Can you carry my luggage?
Due to the size of our vehicles, ideal for the Lake District roads, we are only able to carry small day sized backpacks. Larger luggage maybe carried on-board with prior arrangement, but please note this may not be possible on some services/tours, please check at time of booking.
Windermere Information, our official start point, offer Mountain Goat customers a special rate of £2.50 for luggage storage in large secure lockers for the day.
Many Hotels and Guest Houses also offer their customers luggage storage facilities, please note charges may apply at those third parties.
Do you provide lunch?
Unless stated on your particular tour we are unable to provide lunch on our buses. However, all our daily tours have a lunch stop of between 45 minutes to 1 hour where lunch can be obtained. This could be a village, town or a public house.
Can you carry Wheelchairs?
We are happy to carry collapsible wheelchairs on our day tours, please provide this information at the time of booking. Please note, our vehicles are Mini-Buses and there are at least 3 steps that customers are required to climb to board our vehicles. Can you carry babies or toddlers?
We regret our tours are unsuitable for children under 5.
How much walking is required on our tours?
Our tours are designed as scenic mini-bus tours. We take you to as close to the scenery as possible, so you can see as much as possible on your tour. However, there maybe places where you may need to walk a few hundred metres to a place of interest or to board a cruise for example.
Can I reserve a seat?
Our seats are not numbered and we operate a first come, first served policy for choice on seating. All our buses have large windows.
Do you allow dogs on your tours?
We only allow assistance dogs on our tours, please inform us at the time of booking. Our Cross Lakes Experience accepts dogs for an additional charge.
What time will the tour finish?
Our tours have been carefully designed over the last 40 years to give you the best experience in a day. With our operating experience we know that the Lake District and surrounding areas can get busy with traffic at any time of the year. We use approximate return times to aid you with your onwards travel arrangements, but please use these as a guide only, Mountain Goat cannot guarantee your exact return time.
I am travelling to meet the tour by Bus/Train will you wait for me?
Where possible we link our tour start and finish times in Windermere with public transport. To assist us we ask you to arrive 10 minutes prior to your tour start time. Due to the nature of our tours, we cannot wait for customers who arrive at their tour start point late.
If you are travelling to Windermere by train, and are changing at Oxenholme The Lake District, we recommend you allow plenty of time to make this connection.
